One day, a woman noticed three old men with long white beards, sitting in front of her house.  Since she lived in a secluded place, she was surprised to see them.  Being a kind woman, she said invitingly, “You are strangers to me, but I am sure you are tired and hungry.  Please come inside, rest, and have some food.”

The three old men asked her, “Is your family home?”  She said, “No, my husband is out herding and my daughter is helping him.”  The old men said, “Well in that case, we cannot come in.”

Slightly puzzled, she explained all this to her husband and daughter when they came home in the evening.  The three old men were still outside.  Her husband told her, “Please invite them in now, by all means!  They must be really tired and hungry now.”

When the woman approached the old men once again to invite them, they replied, “We cannot all come in at once.  You will have to pick just one of us–we are Wealth, Success, and Love.”  She went inside to relay this to her husband and daughter.

The woman said, “Let’s invite Wealth in, because we will have better furnishings and home, and feel more secure through the winter.”  The husband said, “How about we invite Success in, because then we will have the means to buy what we need, and people can’t take away success.”  The daughter said, “I think we should invite Love in, because it will fill our home with peace and happiness.”  The parents agreed with the wisdom of their daughter.

The woman went outside and said to the three men, “Whichever one of you is Love, please come inside.”  One of the old men got up, “I am Love,” and followed her.  To the woman’s surprise, so did the other two.  You see, Wealth and Success follows those who Love.
