People look online for information, services and products.
You need to find the people looking for your product or service.
What would it take for you to be able to get a decent number of these folks to come to you?
I am starting to work with my brother Mergen on a SEO business launch, and learning a lot of new things about online marketing and social media. The reason SEO and marketing online is awesome is because you will be able to sell anything to anyone, not because of sales skills, but because of the ability to reach the right person who needs your particular help, product or service, at the precise moment he/she needs it.
Mergen is the founder and CEO of WebGuru, which offers the best value for services that rival the best in the industry by hiring the best talent in Mongolia, keeping low overhead, and utilizing his education and resources from living in the US for over 15 years. He is mentoring me and giving me assignments. He gave me a website, SEO-Web-Design.com to offer services to businesses and individuals who would like to optimize their websites or online presence for whatever their goals may be. Because I am interested in being around for the long haul, I am going to learn organically, with emphasis on quality, and offer as much as possible as I am learning.
Ultimately, I don’t want to sell people, I want to help people. Here, this business launch will be awesome for that–I can teach and consult people to reach their goals, teaching them how to fish, so to speak instead of giving them fish.
My first lesson was the importance of blogging. I was already blogging because of his gift to me of this website, www.misheel.net. It was only after I began, that I learned how interesting the subject of blogging was in and of itself, and how it can be used to leverage all sorts of websites, ideas, and social networking. Most importantly, blogging for personal reasons and for fun is completely different than writing to a particular audience for delivering service-oriented information.
Second, I am learning about Twitter and how it can help businesses. It’s so convenient that I am doing marketing for the Gurkhas Restaurant in Boulder, CO, (or Gunbarrel, to be more exact) so that I can implement what I’m learning on the restaurant! He-he
I have discovered a lot of cool websites in the process from talking with people, and joined some of them. However, I think I will add only one new thing per day on my load–I will review a new website/online tool and write about it. There are too many things to do from the onset. So it is way too easy to get overwhelmed and digress.
I am doing a video log as I learn new stuff. My first video is here.
I kept things informal in this blog, as it is a personal blog site. I welcome your input and comments.

Great post Misheel! it is absolutely right that you help and train people, not sale. I borrowed one’s same idea which is “make evangelist not sales” Likewise, the idea that you also said teaching people how to catch fish instead of feeding them is one of my favorites too. Great post! Good luck!
