MYTEXTS: For the easily distracted writer
on November 3rd, 2009 at 6:13 amZen of writing.
If you are easily distracted like I am, try Mytexts. You can get it here.
When I have too many applications or windows open on my desktop, there I go, chasing off more useless knowledge.
They say that in the information age, our generation obsessive compulsively checks social media sites and email accounts. Guilty!
And my writing suffers. Especially now that I am doing NaNoWriMo, I want to focus. NaNoWriMo is National Novel Writing Month. I am writing a novel with 200,000 other people. My goal of averaging 1,667 words per day to a grand total of 50,000 words would place me among the elite winners on this honor-based writing marathon. :-)
Anyway, this is the best writing software I have found yet. It totally eliminates all distractions, and takes me back to the basics. I have my screen to myself again, a smoky gray background that eliminates reflection, and the text in non-jarring light blue. I didn’t even have to set this up. It came like that in its default setting.
I love it. If you have ADD, try it!
Try it if your writing suffers or takes too long because you simply have too many distractions. Happy writing!
*Trial version is free and it more than suits me because I can write anything in it and store it through MS Word.
And no, I am not getting paid to blog about myTexts… hehe
P.S. If you have writer’s block, I discovered another software that’s killer. I’ll write about it next.
Sounds good i’Ll try it
